Nicolò Bulega was the fastest in the second free practice of the Superbike World Championship at Assen, just like his teammate Álvaro Bautista had been in the morning’s FP1.
From early on, the Italian from Aruba.it Ducati was among the frontrunners, consistently appearing at the top of the timesheets – a position also held at times by other riders, including Bautista and Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS/Ducati).
It was just over a minute from the end when Bulega set the session’s fastest time with a 1m33.592s lap. Axel Bassani (bimota by KRT) surprised by improving to second shortly after, finishing 0.252s behind.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW) recovered gradually throughout the session, briefly led, but finished third, 0.319s off the top.
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) and Bautista completed the top five, while Sam Lowes was sixth and the best independent rider. Xavi Vierge was the best Honda, in 15th, while Garrett Gerloff finished 17th on the sole Kawasaki.
