The San Marino GP is next on the MotoGP World Championship agenda, and for Miguel Oliveira, it hasn’t been the most favorable round over the years. In the premier class, a fifth place was his best result in four seasons, while in the lower classes he only managed two podiums.
Oliveira’s first appearance in Misano in the World Championships dates back to 2011, in the now extinct 125cc. At that time, he finished in tenth place, being the sixth and final top ten he achieved that year. In Moto3, he improved his result in the following two seasons, finishing ninth in 2012 and seventh in 2013. But his best result in the entry-level category came in 2015, when he was second.
A year later, Oliveira moved up to the Moto2 World Championship, where he competed in the San Marino GP three times: he was 17th in 2016, retired in 2017, and finished second in 2018. At that time, he completed a sequence of three consecutive podiums. In his debut year in MotoGP, he finished 16th in Misano.
The year 2020 was marked by the pandemic, and the Adriatic circuit hosted two rounds. In the San Marino GP, Oliveira finished 11th, and a week later, he achieved his best result in Misano in the premier class: he finished fifth in the Emilia Romagna GP. In 2021, he did not score points in any of the rounds, while last year, #88 finished the race in 11th place.
Now, Oliveira faces Misano again in a new context: he competes on a “home” bike, the Aprilia RS-GP, and for the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team satellite team. After a good performance in Barcelona, he will try to continue and write new chapters of his story in Misano in the upcoming weekend.
