Jorge Martín suffered 11 fractures and a pneumothorax during the MotoGP Qatar GP race… which could mean around three months out of action.

The Spaniard from Aprilia is still hospitalized in Qatar, where, according to doctor Ángel Charte, he is expected to stay for at least eight to ten days. According to Motorsport.com, citing sources close to the rider, Martín is in significant pain and is being heavily bothered by the drainage tube on his right side.

The same sources indicate he may remain there for two or possibly three weeks before he’s able to travel by plane. In other words, the Spanish GP is practically ruled out.

On the other hand, a doctor who regularly treats MotoGP riders estimates a recovery period of no less than three months – although he is not fully informed about the exact extent of Martín’s injuries.

The 2024 champion’s first season with Aprilia is proving to be extremely challenging. He was injured twice in February, and the second incident kept him out of the first three rounds of the season. He returned to the bike in Qatar, only to suffer these latest injuries immediately.
