Ivo Lopes makes his debut this season in Moto2 with the Easy Race Team at the FIM Junior GP in Valencia. The Portuguese rider, champion of Spain and Portugal, receives this award from his team, after achieving his second ESBK title.
Eduardo Salvador stated: ‘After a spectacular season in the Spanish and Portuguese Superbike Championship, we decided to offer Ivo the opportunity to try out a Moto2, which we know all riders love within a championship like the FIM Junior GP. The goal is to have fun, try out the bike, be with his team, and it is a reward for his excellent season. He will get on the bike for the first time on Thursday, we hope he enjoys it and we will see what we are capable of achieving’.
Ivo Lopes also spoke about this opportunity, showing himself very motivated to compete.
– ‘I am very excited to race in Moto2, I want to thank the team for this opportunity and surprise that they have given me as a gift for the championship. It is thrilling, I really like the category and I am eager to see what I can do with a Moto2. I am very happy to be able to say that we will do this race, with the Easy Race structure, which is our team and I want to thank them for that. The last time I tried it was in 2017 at Estoril and we will work from Thursday to understand as much as possible about the bike and make the most of the weekend they have provided us.’
