After three seasons with the Honda RC213V, Álex Márquez moved to Gresini in 2023, where he rode a Ducati Desmosedici GP22. Despite having to adapt to a new bike, he achieved convincing results, including a return to the podium.
The Spanish rider admitted to Moto.it that he exceeded some of his expectations: ‘I am not a rider who is fast from the beginning, but with this bike I managed to be fast, win a Sprint, make it to the podium, first row, pole position, and did things that I did not expect‘.
By finishing ninth in the final standings, Márquez did not achieve the goal he had set: ‘The goal was to be among the seven/eight front runners and next year take the next step to fight for more important things‘.
