Danilo Petrucci started the World Superbike season with a podium in the second race at Phillip Island – he finished third and was the best rider from an independent team.
It was a result for which the Italian from Barni Spark Racing Team had to fight until the last meters. In statements to the championship’s official website, Petrucci highlighted this balance, which does not make the task any easier for the riders:
– In this championship, especially this year, you can finish 15th or third. I was so angry, but I said several times in the preseason, I believe there are 12 to 15 riders who can reach the podium and this is really good for the championship. It’s exciting and fun to watch, but for us it’s very complicated because we are very close!
