Many motorcycle manufacturers are thinking that 2024 will be a great year. The Chinese brand Zontes is clearly one of them, as at EICMA 2023, the company presented a series of new models. In addition to its ambitions to enter the premium and high-performance segment, Zontes is also expanding its entry-level offerings.
Cruisers have always been considered ideal motorcycles for beginner riders, thanks to their low seat height, friendly performance, and overall affordability. Cruisers with small engines, like the new Zontes 125 C, take affordability to a whole new level, making them one of the easiest motorcycles to ride. From a style standpoint, the Zontes 125 C deviates slightly from what we have associated with the brand. The aggressive and angular lines have disappeared in favor of a more retro-inspired approach, similar to what we find in Honda’s Rebel cruiser lineup. It has a muscular tank, a round LED headlight, fork protectors, and a relaxed and low stance.
From a performance standpoint, the Zontes 125 C follows the formula of all A1 motorcycles for beginners. It has a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 125cc single-cylinder engine with a power output not exceeding 15 hp. The engine is mounted on a compact steel tubular frame, which includes standard telescopic front forks with protectors for a more retro look. Meanwhile, the rear suspension consists of dual shock absorbers and a steel swingarm.
As for other features, the Zontes 125 C rides on 16-inch alloy wheels (similar to those of the Honda Rebel 300 and 500). The tires measure 120/80 in the front and 140/70 in the rear, contributing to the muscular appearance of the cruiser. The 125 C stops with front and rear disc brakes with two-channel ABS.
Speaking of muscular appearance, the 125 C seems much larger than the size of its engine would suggest. It has a wheelbase of 1485 mm (about 58 inches) and a length of 2100 mm (83 inches). The seat height is 700 mm (27 inches), and the weight is 153 kg dry.
Zontes is expected to launch the new 125 C in the European market in early 2024, although, at the time of writing this article, the official price and availability have not yet been confirmed.
