In the landscape of high-performance motorcycles, few leave as lasting an impression as the Suzuki Hayabusa. In a recent highlight, Technical Garage RUN showcased a 2008 Hayabusa that exemplifies the art of customization and meticulous maintenance.
This particular Hayabusa is not just a motorcycle – it’s a testament to engineering and owner dedication. Over more than a decade, the bike has undergone a continuous process of updating and refinement, always with the goal of maintaining peak performance.
The representative of Technical Garage RUN, Sugimoto-san, praises the Hayabusa for its unique versatility: ‘It’s a bike that feels at home on long trips and on the track. Its stability at high speeds is remarkable, but it’s also docile enough for a leisurely ride’.
The transformation of this Hayabusa is comprehensive. The cockpit has been updated with high-quality components, including a Brembo GP master cylinder. The fairing has been replaced and upgraded, incorporating carbon fiber elements from Magical Racing. The Beater aluminum fuel tank not only reduces weight but also enhances aesthetics.
In the suspension department, the bike is equipped with Ohlins FG R&T forks at the front and a TTX unit at the rear. The brakes have been upgraded to Brembo GP4RR racing calipers, paired with custom Omega discs.
The engine hasn’t been forgotten, benefiting from significant improvements, including the incorporation of a Yoshimura camshaft and WPC treatment of internal parts. The K-Factory titanium exhaust system complements these modifications.
The Marchesini forged magnesium wheels not only reduce unsprung weight but also improve the overall aesthetics of the bike.
Sugimoto-san emphasizes the importance of regular maintenance, especially for a high-performance motorcycle like the Hayabusa: ‘Keeping consumables up to date, from engine oil to tires, is crucial, and don’t forget about less obvious components, such as brake hoses and sprockets’.
This Hayabusa represents more than just a modified motorcycle. It’s an example of how, with care and attention to detail, a bike can not only maintain its performance over the years but even improve it. For Hayabusa enthusiasts and high-performance motorcycle fans in general, this project serves as an inspiration and a guide to what can be achieved with dedication and technical knowledge.
