It’s now official: Miguel Oliveira will miss the MotoGP GP of the Americas Americas due to injury, and his replacement will be Augusto Fernández – making a return to the grid where he raced until the end of last year.
The Prima Pramac Yamaha rider suffered a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint and ligament damage due to a crash in the Argentina GP Sprint race, where he was taken out by Fermín Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini/Ducati).
In the coming days, Oliveira will undergo further medical examinations to assess his recovery progress. Meanwhile, Fernández will step in for him in Austin, competing for the first time with Pramac and the YZR-M1.
The Spanish rider was signed as a Yamaha test rider and had already been scheduled to make a racing return that same weekend in Austin… but in the Superbike World Championship, replacing the injured Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha).
