Triumph will soon return to the medium-displacement sportbike segment with the Daytona 660. Despite the historic name Daytona, this is not a motorcycle designed for competition at the highest level, but rather a comfortable and easy-to-ride sportbike that fits into a class that has been reinvented and where the main competing brands already have their models.
The novelty is the fact that it is the first three-cylinder in this segment, equipped with the engine that powers the Trident and Tiger Sport 660 but with several internal improvements. In this model, the engine delivers 95 hp of power, a 17% improvement, and is clearly stronger in the mid and high rev ranges, without losing in low revs, also because the maximum torque has also increased. It has a new exhaust and the frame is also new, while the rest of the chassis aims to be at the highest level in terms of dynamics and comfort.
It features a 41mm Showa big piston inverted fork and a rear mono-shock from the same brand, while in terms of braking, the two discs are accompanied by 4-piston radial calipers. For the tires, it uses Michelin Power 6 sport tires, the seat is positioned 810mm from the ground, and the passenger seat is spacious. The handlebars are placed above the triple clamps and the footpegs are positioned halfway between comfort and a high ground clearance in corners. In fact, the Daytona aims to be as comfortable in the city or on the road as it is on a track day. The motorcycle is equipped with three riding modes, Sport, Road, and Rain, and with traction control. It is a model naturally equipped with LED lights and can be restricted for A2 license, also featuring over 30 genuine Triumph accessories.
Triumph declares a weight of 201 kg for its new Daytona 660, a motorcycle that the British brand aims to take to the top of the class. We are very curious here and as soon as we have the opportunity, we will conduct a test for the program. The first units will arrive at Portuguese dealerships during the month of April with a retail price in Portugal starting from €9,895 (VAT included).
