Romano Albesiano is the new technical director of Honda starting in 2025, and Lucio Cecchinello even revealed that he had been personally invited by the Italian to join Aprilia. Now that Albesiano has arrived at the Japanese manufacturer, the LCR director did not hesitate to affirm that this is a ‘professional opportunity’.
The LCR owner first emphasized that he did not ‘bring’ Albesiano to Honda, while believing that the former Aprilia employee understood that joining the Japanese team was an opportunity: ‘No, I did not bring him. He realized it was a professional opportunity, a new challenge, because after some time it is also fair to accept new challenges’.
And Cecchinello once again recalled some conversations he had with Albesiano, and how these were always enriching: ‘When I spoke with him, I immediately liked Romano because he is a very balanced, very clear and very honest person, he seems extremely prepared but also extremely respectful. We always had very pleasant conversations’.
Now it remains to be seen how Albesiano will change the development path of the RC213V, now under the aegis of a European, with a vision and way of working different from those that typically are part of Honda’s DNA.
