The MXGP World Championship made its way to France for the MXGP of Europe, and on Saturday, Lucas Coenen claimed victory in the qualifying race. The third round of the season is taking place in Saint Jean d’Angely.
The Red Bull KTM rider dominated the race, leading every lap. He crossed the finish line ahead of Tim Gajser (Honda HRC), who finished 2.562s behind.
The Slovenian moved into second place on lap four, overtaking Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha), who was also passed by Rúben Fernández (Honda HRC) at the same time.
From that point on, the top four positions remained unchanged. Coenen and Gajser pulled away from the rest of the pack, with Fernández securing third place, finishing 22.295s off the lead. Renaux took fourth, while Romain Febvre brought Kawasaki home in fifth.
