It was a special night in San Diego for Julien Beaumer. At just 18 years old, the young Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider took his first win in the AMA Supercross 250 West Zone.
Beaumer managed to overtake Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies after around six and a half minutes of racing, in a moment that marked the turning point of the main event. Triumph Racing’s Jordon Smith took second place, while Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan completed the podium after an impressive recovery.
Cole Davies, who had started the night on a high note by winning his qualifying race, got off to a strong start in the main event with a holeshot and led the first few laps. However, the constant pressure from Beaumer caused Davies to adopt a defensive posture, which eventually wore him down. Interestingly, after being overtaken, Davies felt more at ease and was able to find a better rhythm.
Jordon Smith continued his good form, securing a second consecutive podium for Triumph, after the previous week had given the brand its first top-three finish. Haiden Deegan, who was tipped as one of the favorites for the title before the start of the season, is still fighting for his first win. Although he has shown improvements on the previous week, his difficult start has hampered his journey to the top.
