Joan Mir had a tough race in the MotoGP Argentina GP, but despite facing many difficulties, he managed to secure a ninth-place finish – after a long time away from top-ten results.
To achieve this, the Honda HRC Castrol rider battled against front tire overheating and the inability to defend himself, both in corners and on straights, during much of the race.
He also faced some scares, highlighting that he was able to maintain control: ‘I had many moments, but I was able to control it. I had to finish the race. I need to get points, I need to get good information, and that’s it’.
In Mir’s view, the Argentina GP may have been the worst-case scenario for Honda – which makes the ninth place even more encouraging in such a context: ‘If in the worst possible scenario we had a top ten, this means that maybe this year we will be able to have good races. I’m sure’.
