Albert Arenas is starting his third consecutive season in Moto2 with Gresini. The rider wants to respond on the track to the trust the Italian team has placed in him.
Moto3 world champion in 2020, the last few seasons have been complicated for Arenas, and in addition to injuries, this will be the third time he has changed teams. After entering the intermediate category with Aspar, he moved to Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2023 and will now be with Gresini.
‘This year I’ll already know what it’s like to meet new faces in a new team. The truth is that I feel at home from the start, I feel like a Gresini rider, I’ve been with the team all week in Italy and in reality the energy is good, I feel good, I’m also very well surrounded’ the catalan began to reveal in an interview with Motosan.
‘Injuries are part of our sport and sometimes things just don’t flow, you want to do more, but you can’t always do it. When you’re enjoying yourself, when you’re well, things happen more easily. Last year, at my best moment, I had just finished on the podium at Montmeló and at Misano I think I was leading or in the top three in that session. It was a serious injury that took me out of the following races. However, I managed to find my rhythm again, I was on the front row in Thailand, I fought for the podium places, but let’s just say I didn’t find myself, but let’s just say I learnt a lot and I’m very grateful for that’ he recalled.
For the season that will start in a few weeks, Arena reveals that he has already started doing his homework.
– We’re a bit ahead of schedule with our duties, I’ve been adapting to the team since November last year, it’s all part of the process. I’m here to work as hard as I can, to try and become a better rider than I was last year – that’s my main goal. I think it’s important to do the work we’re doing, to adapt to the team, to leave no stone unturned and to be super constant in training.
