Manuel González confirmed his supremacy and clinched pole position for the Moto2 Qatar GP this Saturday. The rider set a new lap record at Lusail.

Q2 got off to a promising start for González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex), who broke the circuit record on his very first flying lap. Barry Baltus (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex) was in second.

The Belgian was soon beaten by Albert Arenas (Italjet Gresini/Kalex) and teammate Arón Canet on the second timed lap, dropping him to fourth. Rookie David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) held fifth.

After the mid-session pit stops, González went even faster, raising the bar to 1m56.301s. Shortly after, Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) moved into second.

Despite not improving further, González secured pole with a 0.168s margin over Dixon. Canet finished third thanks to his final lap, with Arenas in fourth ahead of Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex). Baltus had set a lap that would have placed him fifth, but it was cancelled due to yellow flags following a crash by Mario Aji (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex).
