Marc Márquez showed on Friday that he is finding it very difficult to ride his Honda RC213V. Two crashes in the first two sessions and 16th place for tomorrow was the best the Spanish rider could do on the first day of the Australian GP.
Asked about switching the race to Saturday and the Sprint to Sunday, Marc replied: ‘I agree, if it’s for safety and if it’s impossible to drive on Sunday, it makes sense. Maybe on Sunday it will still be acceptable to ride and then we’ll do the Sprint as well, but we’ll see.
The Spanish rider also spoke about his approach for tomorrow, especially for the main race, after swapping the Sprint race from Saturday to Sunday.
– ‘The approach for the Sprint won’t change much, but for the main race we have less time to understand the consumption of the tires and it will be a gamble because we have less time to understand the grip and wear of the rear tire. Today I still did a few laps behind Alex (Rins), but it’s not the best way to do a good lap time and the pace still wasn’t the best, so we’ll see how it goes tomorrow’.
