Miguel Oliveira has a difficult day in India, finishing 17th in the timed training session.

Difficult Friday for Miguel Oliveira at the Buddh International Circuit. The CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team rider was in the top five of the free practice session of the Indian GP, but was unable to keep up with the pace in the final minutes and finished in a modest 17th place. Therefore, he will have to go through the first phase of qualifying.

The #88’s first flying lap was cancelled as he encountered a yellow flag due to Jack Miller’s (Red Bull KTM) crash. After an unrepresentative second lap, he returned to the pits.

Upon returning to the track, Oliveira improved, but it was not enough to go beyond 14th. With 47 minutes remaining, he entered the top ten, reaching eighth. Shortly after, he further improved to move up to seventh before re-entering the pits with 42 minutes left.

When he returned to the track a few minutes later, Oliveira had dropped to 13th place. Significant progress at 26 minutes from the checkered flag, with his arrival in third place. Shortly after, he returned to the pits. Upon returning to the track for the last quarter of an hour, the Portuguese rider had dropped to eighth place. He only did one flying lap, which was not very representative, and continued to drop in the standings. In his last stint, Oliveira once again did not improve his time, falling to 17th place where he finished. Therefore, he will have to go through Q1, in addition to finishing behind his teammate Raúl Fernández. The #88 was 1.081s slower than the leader, Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati).
