As much as Kawasaki is recognized for its performance-oriented models, it also has a range of cruiser motorcycles that are equally impressive. For many years, the Vulcan range has proven to be a lineup that one can grow into, offering a variety of models with different displacements. The common denominator? A unique style and a touch of retro inspiration. For 2024, the Vulcan range has undergone a slight update.
Let’s start with the smallest of the group, the Vulcan S. It shares the same structure as the rest of Kawasaki’s 650 range, especially the 649cc twin-cylinder engine. In the Vulcan, it produces a decent 61 hp of power and 63 Nm of torque. Kawasaki claims that the Vulcan S has a frame and suspension “derived from a superbike,” but we all know that, in reality, it’s just a steel frame with telescopic front forks and a mono-shock with adjustable preload.
Next, we have the Vulcan 900, which further distances itself from the Vulcan S, as it resembles an American V-twin cruiser. The 2024 model continues to have a 903 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine with fuel injection, sacrificing some power for an extra sound and the unmistakable V-twin character. It is offered in three versions, with the Classic featuring floorboard protection and a simple cruiser look. The Classic LT has a more padded seat and leather bags, while the Custom has wide drag bars and an appealing paint job.
For those seeking an authentic cruiser experience, the Vulcan 1700 range, available in Vaquero and Voyager models, is the ideal bike for you. The engine is a 1,700 cc twin-cylinder with fuel injection and includes features like cruise control and K-ACT II linked brakes with ABS. The Vaquero features unique fairing and a darkened engine, and comes with an audio system compatible with SiriusXM. There are also closed seat bags for added comfort during journeys.
However, the Vulcan 1700 Voyager is presented as the “King of Kawasaki Cruisers”, with its large fairing and features ready for long trips. It has frame-mounted fairings complete with integrated luggage, as well as all the electronic features found in the Vaquero. It is available in metallic graphite gray / metallic carbon gray.
The 2024 Vulcan series from Kawasaki is already available at Kawasaki dealerships in the US. More official information from the Japanese brand for the domestic market should be revealed soon, we will stay tuned.
