Already working towards next year, Marc Márquez knows perfectly well what he wants from his new bike next season. Stability is the main thing for now, as the 2025 version is better in some ways and not so much in others. The pressure of working with the new team and in the role of developer is something he is happy to accept.
The Spaniard said after the tests in Barcelona that it takes time to work on and adjust the bike: ‘We still need to understand [the new bike and what it will be good at], because Pecco and I had similar comments. It’s true that the new bike is very good in some aspects but a little more difficult in others and now we’ll have to evaluate because you have to have a stable bike over 22 rounds, not «just» fast on a certain type of track […]’.
On whether he feels more pressure given that he’s now with the official team and also has a strong component of working to develop the bike, the rider clarified: ‘No. I feel comfortable, I feel relaxed. Of course there will be pressure, but in the end I accept it. If I didn’t accept it, I wouldn’t have chosen to move to Ducati two years ago’.
Márquez is back in red and is already seen as one of the favorites to win next year’s World Championship.
