Miguel Oliveira was the ninth classified in the Sprint race of the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix. The Trackhouse Racing driver started from 14th, dropped to 20th in the first corners and then gradually recovered to the points positions, also benefiting from falls in front of him.
At a certain point, the Portuguese was in eighth, but was delayed by an overtake by Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati)… about which he confronted the rival, as he told
– I told him he owes me a new windshield and a new air filter, because of the stones. I told him, “Look, the way you overtake is to put half a bike and then come out of the braking, if the outside rider stays, lean against him and if you throw him out, you throw him out.” And he said, “Yes, that’s the way I need to overtake, otherwise I have no chance.” It’s fair, I leave it to the stewards to decide. The point is that he overtook me cleanly because I lifted the bike and there was a puddle of water in turn 9. It happened twice. That’s what it is.
Johann Zarco’s (LCR Honda) fall on the last lap ultimately allowed Oliveira to finish in ninth place and, thus, score a point in a race where he did not seem to have the potential to do so without all the incidents in front of him.
