Fabio Quartararo managed to qualify directly for Q2 with 8th place in the second practice session on Friday, achieving his goal for the first day of the Thailand GP.
The french rider said in a debrief that he is enjoying his bike, stating that when the conditions are a little different than usual, his Yamaha maintains its performance, unlike its rivals who find it more difficult:
– Yes, it was the main objective (Q2) and we did it. I’m very happy, the pace was good and as soon as we have a situation that is a bit different to normal, we can enjoy it a bit more. For us it’s the same, but the others can’t use all the power, so it was good.
Quartararo also gave an explanation of how everything happens at the Thai circuit, stating that you have to do a lot of things simultaneously, but that it is pleasurable and fun to ride at the Chang International Circuit:
– It’s crazy because you brake, brake, brake, loose, you open the throttle very aggressively to slide the bike, but you have to lift it, use the (height) device, then use the rear brake on your thumb. So you have to do many, many things. You’re really struggling, but enjoy doing it all, it’s a lot of fun.
