Yari Montella will start from the pole position of the Misano round of the World Supersport Championship. The Superpole took place this afternoon, featuring a fair amount of drama and uncertainty.
Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) was the first to set a flying lap, but was soon surpassed by Adrián Huertas (Aruba.it Ducati), who held the lead for over 20 minutes.
Later, Huertas had a crash but managed to get back on track and respond to Montella’s improvement with two quick laps in succession. However, just when he seemed to have a lap time capable of securing pole position, he exceeded track limits at turn 13.
This allowed Montella to take advantage, securing pole position with a clean lap, clocking in at 1m36.876s. Huertas finished second, just 0.029s behind, while Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate) took third, 0.613s off the pace.
The second row of the starting grid will consist of Valentin Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha), Niki Tuuli (EAB Racing Team/Ducati), and Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti), from fourth to sixth respectively.
