In 2024, Álex Márquez had his brother Marc as a teammate, something he saw as a mix of responsibility and opportunity – admitting that it was a benefit.
The #73 said in an interview with Estrella Galicia 0,0: ‘There are very good things and things that are not so good. In the end, the good things are being your brother, having trust, and being able to progress much more. I believe that without him, this season would have been tougher at times when we didn’t really understand what was happening to us. His experience or his point of view helped us a lot’.
On the less positive side, Álex Márquez spoke about the media attention: ‘They watch you more closely, the team was constantly under pressure. Whether you like it or not, when I came to Gresini, I also felt some responsibility because when he made the move, he asked me for advice, and I spoke very highly of the team. Because I felt very good, but when you see him there wanting to win, or when things weren’t as easy as he expected at the beginning, it’s something that weighs on you as well’.
Marc Márquez’s younger brother also said: ‘It was a year where, having him by my side, was very positive, especially for the team, because it gained that importance, or that experience of knowing how to manage things that wouldn’t happen with other riders’.
