Jorge Martín made an impressive recovery to finish second in the MotoGP Japanese GP. A crash in qualifying had relegated him to 11th place on the grid, but the Prima Pramac rider managed to minimize the damage and ended up just behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) this Sunday in Motegi.
A performance that left the Prima Pramac rider pleased, as he stated in the official broadcast: ‘I’m happy with the result today. I think we did an amazing race. For sure, being that close to Pecco I wanted to give it a try, so I never gave up throughout the race, I pushed until the end’.
That said, Martín admitted that he was more cautious towards the end: ‘With three laps to go I had some moments, so I said, «Okay, Jorge, it’s time to relax, to think about the points»’.
The Spaniard acknowledged Bagnaia’s merit in winning but also defended that he had a good performance: ‘Congrats to Pecco, he did an amazing job, he’s a master at managing the tyres. I think I did a good job, nice first laps, and I’m super happy with this second place’.
