Toprak Razgatlioglu could hardly have performed better in the first race of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park. The rider started from pole position and led from start to finish, ending more than 11 seconds ahead of Alex Lowes (Kawasaki).
In an interview with the official broadcast, the Turkish ROKiT BMW rider commented: ‘The feeling is amazing, because it’s my favourite track and we won again here – and it’s a strong win, because… 11 seconds, this is also the first time in my career’.
While acknowledging that his dominance took some interest out of the race, Razgatlioglu stressed that he needs to capitalize on his advantage: ‘Generally I’m enjoying a little bit, but with this gap nobody is enjoying, I know. But I’m fast this weekend, I need to use this because the championship is very important for me’.
Finally, the 2021 world champion said: ‘Thank you to my team, because of the incredible job this weekend, we are really strong. We have two more races tomorrow, I will try my best again. See you tomorrow. Thank you very much’.
