Pedro Acosta has returned to top-three finishes. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider was a constant presence in the fight for top positions in the Sprint race of the Catalan GP in MotoGP, ultimately finishing third.
At the beginning of the final lap, he was overtaken by Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati), but shortly after, he benefited from Francesco Bagnaia’s (Ducati) crash – just like the winner Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and Márquez.
In an interview with the official broadcast, Acosta admitted that the early battles might have affected the tires but expressed clear satisfaction with securing third place in the race:
– For sure it was a very difficult race. At the end, maybe with the battles at the beginning with Pecco and Brad [Binder] we overheat a bit the tyres. Anyway, I’m super happy to be in the podium again, super happy to be in the podium with these guys, and I’m super happy with the work that is making Mattighofen and all the GasGas team.
