After enduring a very challenging period, Enea Bastianini secured his sole MotoGP victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix – demonstrating that, when in good physical shape, he still has the talent to win despite the injuries sustained this year.
The Ducati rider admitted to Sky Italia that he didn’t anticipate the triumph in Sepang, although he aimed for a podium finish: ‘It was intense and unexpected. I knew I was returning with speed, perhaps to fight for the podium, but unexpectedly, the victory came. We celebrated at night, all together with the team, did some karaoke. We had a great time’.
And what was the «secret» to success in Malaysia? ‘We helped each other a lot, and the weekend in Malaysia was good for that reason. It helped me find the rhythm, the consistency I was lacking, and the results showed’, he said.
