Pedro Acosta was one of the protagonists of the Qatar GP. The rookie was up to 4th position in a heated battle with eight-time world champion Marc Márquez, but could do no better than 9th overall.
The Spanish rider spoke in a debrief about the feelings he had during his first race in the premier class in 2024.
– ‘Not bad, to begin with. A lot of things happened today. The start wasn’t the best, but then the feeling at the front was great. I had an incredible feeling on the bike and we’re very happy. The tire management wasn’t the best, but in any case we have to be happy with these mistakes, they’re lessons we’ve learned for Portimão. Maybe I didn’t have the pace to be at the front with them until the end, but the tire management wasn’t the best either and what we got out of today was very good.
Asked what expectations everyone has of the Spanish rider’s ability and what they expect from his performance, Acosta replied:
– ‘In moto3 I had more pressure than many great MotoGP riders. I can’t do anything about it because there’s no point in caring what anyone says, it doesn’t mean anything to me. When I overtook Marc, I said “now I can’t fail”, it was great to share the track with him and especially this battle. I just need to manage the tires better, otherwise I have nothing to say and we need to be happy with our performance today.
