Pedro Acosta is making an impression at the beginning of his MotoGP career – thanks to his performance not only in the tests but also in the Qatar GP, which marked the start of the new season. He is currently linked to KTM, competing for the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 satellite team, but naturally, he is a target of attention from rival manufacturers.
One of them could be Honda. The Japanese factory team currently has Joan Mir under contract until the end of this year and Luca Marini until the end of 2025. At the moment, it does not seem likely that either of them will leave after this season, just as it is not expected that Acosta will be tempted to end his connection with KTM.
However, after 2025, the story may be different. The Motosprint website suggests that Honda – which is heavily investing to regain the path to good results – could try to «seduce» Acosta. From the rider’s perspective, youth may spark the desire to try other challenges. However, KTM is aware that they have a diamond in their hands and should not hesitate to fight fiercely to keep him if rival offers arise.
Could other manufacturers be interested in Acosta in the short term? It seems difficult. Ducati has a problem of excess options for the second place alongside Francesco Bagnaia, while Monster Energy Yamaha seems more focused on working for Fabio Quartararo. And if the Frenchman leaves, Aprilia could be his destination, making it another manufacturer uninterested in Acosta. Furthermore, Enea Bastianini has also been linked to the Noale manufacturer.
