Pedro Acosta did not secure a win in his rookie MotoGP season, but he was in contention multiple times, earning several podiums throughout the year.
Racing with Red Bull GasGas Tech3, Acosta was asked if he had believed at the start of the season that he could fight for victories. He replied:
– Yeah, for sure. We were fighting for the win many times this season. The problem was that then I f*cked up everything. In the end, the target of fighting for wins was there – I mean, the possibility was realistic, it was not something of dreaming. It’s true that is hard to see how many opportunities I put in the bin, but it’s part of the job.
The Spaniard concluded the season in sixth place overall with 215 points, claiming four podiums in main races. His best chance for a victory came at the Japanese GP, where he started from pole position but crashed in both the Sprint and the main race.
