Aleix Espargaró arrives at the MotoGP Thai GP with high confidence. Unlike in other rounds, the rider currently sitting tenth in the championship is setting a high bar for Buriram.
The Spanish Aprilia rider stated: ‘This season I don’t really like to put high expectations, especially in this second part of the season. But I think here in Buriram we have to set a high target because last year we were very competitive’.
Although he expects challenges, Espargaró believes he needs to be particularly competitive in Thailand: ‘It seems that this season I’m struggling a little bit when the track temperature is low, so I will not face this problem here. Yes, it will be a difficult weekend for the temperature of the bike, for the physical. But it seems like a promising weekend, we have to be fast here’.
Regarding the issues Aprilia riders usually face with high temperatures, the #41 commented: ‘The enginners worked hard, giving us some solutions. It will be difficult to really understand if they are working or not until tomorrow. But there are some solutions. I think it will be tough, but they do their best, and we’ll see tomorrow’.
