KTM currently has four riders under contract in MotoGP, but only one is tied beyond 2024 – Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). Although the market may see changes in the coming months, the manufacturer is not interested in moving in the rider market for now – especially if there is no possibility of adding a second satellite team.
The director of KTM Motorsport, Pit Beirer, told the press: ‘You always have to look at the list who is under contract and who is becoming free. But at the moment we actually are really happy with the four riders we have. And before there is no discussion about the third team which goes really into serious talks, I don’t really feel that it’s time for us to move or talk with any other riders. We’re really happy with the four riders we have, we fully believe in them. So that’s the target in the first quarter of the season – to put stability into that project and be strong with the guys we have’.
However, the Austrian admitted that he will keep an eye on a market that he anticipates will start moving soon: ‘But I think discussions of course will go flat out since some very famous riders contracts are up. But I saw that like Ducati talking with the world champion, they already announced that they’re pretty far. So I think some things which are fitting really well together, they will stay together. And for the rest, we are going to see what is happening’.
