Francesco Bagnaia won the Sprint race of the MotoGP Emilia-Romagna GP at his home track. Despite a poor start, the Ducati rider capitalized on a mistake by Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) mid-race to take the lead and hold on to victory by 0.285s in a close battle that lasted until the end.
In his post-race interview with the official broadcast, Bagnaia first highlighted that his physical issues from two weeks ago are now behind him: ‘I tried everything to be at my 100% riding, and luckly I’m able to ride at my 100%’.
Reflecting on the race, Bagnaia explained: ‘I missed the start again, and to overtake Jorge was very, very tough. I used this mistake to be leading, and after that moment everything was much easier for the front tyre’.
The 2022 and 2023 champion was amazed by the pace set at the front: ‘The pace today was incredible. Two weeks ago, to ride in 1m31.2s/1m31.3s was something unbelievable, and we did the whole race under the 1m31.2s. This is unbelievable’.
Concluding, Bagnaia shared some acknowledgements: ‘I’m very happy. Thanks to my team, that did an amazing job again, and thanks to all the fans that are here with us’.
