The year 2019 came when the GP of the Americas saw an interesting duel between two riders who were fighting for victory at the time: Valentino Rossi, wearing the factory Yamaha colors, vs. Álex Rins, riding Suzuki.
With four laps remaining in Sunday’s race – at the time there was no Sprint on Saturday – the Italian (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) faced the Spaniard, then with Team Suzuki Ecstar, with the two swapping positions a few times.
The battle was intense until the end, with Rins beating Rossi by 0.462s, on a day when Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) was third.
In that race, riders like Marc Márquez, Cal Crutchlow, Jorge Lorenzo and Aleix Espargaró did not reach the finish. Check out a bit of the battle between Rins and Rossi in the following video:
