Pol Espargaró is a wildcard at the MotoGP Austrian GP, and he is taking the opportunity to test some new components for KTM in a competitive setting. This work was evident during the first free practice session in Spielberg.
The Spanish rider hit the track with a new aerodynamic solution, which appears to be an extension of the swingarm incorporating a profile with aerodynamic cutouts and a small wing.
Espargaró’s RC16 also features an updated exhaust system, with one outlet positioned low on the side and another beneath the rear section of the bike.
For now, it’s unclear what benefits this new aerodynamic setup might bring to the KTM RC16 — something that will be clarified later in the usual post-session interviews.
That is some striking additional aero from @KTM_Racing! 👀🦈#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 pic.twitter.com/VKWhi9LrP9
