Toprak Razgatlioglu was the Superbike world champion in 2021 and, this year, moved to ROKiT BMW. The German manufacturer was seemingly still somewhat far from the fight for titles and victories, but the rider has already proven that he has what it takes to be in that fight from the beginning.
Currently, Razgatlioglu is among the best in the championship and receives constant praise. Now, they came from Troy Corser, who compared him to Noryuki Haga – a rider who was three times vice-world champion and with whom he was a great rival.
The Australian said, as quoted by the site SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘Toprak’s bike control allows him to do what he does. With Nori, it seemed like he wasn’t in control, but he didn’t crash much and was within his limits. I would classify Toprak and Nori as very similar, but that’s largely due to pure riding ability and natural talent. Both came from nowhere, so to speak, and then were right up front’.
Corser also made a comparison between the eras of WSBK: ‘In our time, we had three quick laps at the beginning, then a moderate part in the middle and a very fought-out battle at the end. Now they’re fast from the first to the last lap! We had great moments in the races back then, but now it’s simply on a different level’.
