Victory in the 2025 Dakar slipped further away for Tosha Schareina. The Monster Energy Honda rider suffered a fall on Tuesday during the ninth stage, injuring himself and finishing seventh.
With the time lost, the Spaniard is now 14m45s behind the overall leader, Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM). Speaking to the official Dakar website, Schareina said:
– Today, I had a big crash at the beginning, more ore less at km 20. I then didn’t have too much visibility with the sand and the early morning light. After that, Ricky [Brabec] caught up with me and we rode together until the end. I lost plenty of time, but it’s part of the game. Now, everything is clear and I’m ready for tomorrow.
Regarding his shoulder, the rider noted that there are no major issues: ‘It’s good. After that crash, if you are all okay and continue riding then it’s super good, so I’m happy for that and I’m ready’.
Could his physical condition impact him for the rest of the Dakar? Schareina replied: ‘For sure, after a crash like that, your body is in pain but I think it’s part of the game. Now I’m going to try and enjoy my rest this afternoon and get ready’.
