Toprak Razgatlioglu is very close to becoming the World Superbike Champion, and his first chance to secure the title is this coming weekend at Estoril – the penultimate round of the season.
Currently, the ROKiT BMW rider has a 39-point lead over second-place Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati), with a significant advantage in the number of wins.
To be crowned champion at Estoril, Razgatlioglu needs to score at least 23 more points than the Italian. In other words, winning all three races may not be enough, but it might also not be necessary. The #54 isn’t entirely in control of his own fate.
Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) is also still in the fight. However, the Spaniard needs to recover 20 points from Razgatlioglu to keep his title defense alive until the final round of the year – something that seems difficult given the way the season has played out so far.
Danilo Petrucci is currently fourth in the championship. Despite his recent victories at Cremona, the Barni Spark Racing Team rider is now mathematically unable to beat Razgatlioglu in points, leaving the title battle to the top three contenders only.
