With another victory in Assen, Toprak Razgatlioglu is just six points away from the lead in the World Superbike Championship after three rounds. Despite his stated goal of becoming champion, the ROKiT BMW rider doesn’t focus on the standings.
The Turkish rider explained to GPOne.com that his approach is to take each round as it comes, now eagerly looking forward to the next one in Misano:
– I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in Misano because we’ve already done several tests there, and I hope this helps us find a competitive setup. Right now, I’m not thinking about the championship; I’m in second place, and it’s race by race.
While the results may be strong, Razgatlioglu sees room for improvement in the bike: ‘In the early tests, I noticed that we had a lot of locking when braking, and we need to improve the engine brake. Sometimes it works better, and sometimes worse. In Barcelona, it didn’t work well; on Saturday in Assen, it was okay, and on Sunday, maybe it was too much. We need the right balance’.
