As we recently reported, Tony Cairoli has a powerful ally in his physical preparation as a nine-time Motocross World Champion, none other than the Ducati Powerstage RR e-bike, and he highlighted the advantage of having such equipment on his side.
The Powerstage RR is a highly exclusive enduro e-bike, with only 230 units produced. It boasts a full carbon fiber frame, a powerful Shimano EP801 motor, Öhlins suspension, coupled with a 12-speed SRAM electronic gearbox.
Cairoli spoke about some of the benefits of the e-bike, stating: ‘Motocross is an extremely physical discipline that requires athletic preparation at the highest level, based on strength and a lot of endurance. The bicycle therefore represents the perfect training. A large part of my winter preparation consists of mountain bike training. I chose an enduro model because, in addition to training by pedaling, it also allows me to tackle particularly technical trails and practice my riding technique’.
He continued, drawing a parallel with the motorcycle, and how this can help him streamline processes: ‘On a mountain bike, just like on a motorcycle, you need to know how to choose the right trajectories, constantly correct the balance of the vehicle and body posture, control braking, make quick decisions and automate many movements. The bicycle allows you to go step by step and try new things, gradually intensifying the speed of execution, in order to gain better control and confidence, which is also useful on a motorcycle’.
