Tony Arbolino set the fastest lap in this morning’s Moto2 San Marino GP free practice session in Misano, which ended with a heavy crash for championship leader Sergio García.
Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) dominated the first 15 minutes, consistently leading the timesheets. Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex), Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex), Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex), and Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) also briefly led.
After González maintained the lead for over 20 minutes, Arbolino secured the top spot in the final five minutes, beating Canet by 0.183s. Alonso López (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) finished third, 0.327s behind. González settled for fourth.
The top five was rounded out by Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex), while García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) was tenth. The session ended with a severe crash for the Spaniard at Turn 2, casting doubt on his GP participation as he will need further medical evaluation before the afternoon session.
