Tim Gajser in MXGP and Kay de Wolf in MX2 emerged victorious in the qualifying races of the MXGP of Germany. The event, which counts towards the Motocross World Championships, took place at the Teutschenthal circuit.
In the MXGP qualifying race, Jorge Prado (Red Bull GasGas) grabbed the holeshot to take the early lead. Gajser (Team HRC) quickly moved up to second place, and the top two riders pulled away from the rest of the field. Relentless in his pursuit, Gajser eventually overtook Prado with less than ten minutes remaining, securing a win with a substantial lead of 9.090s over the Spaniard.
Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) finished in third after overtaking Mattia Guadagnini (Red Bull KTM) towards the end. Guadagnini fell back further, ending up in eighth place, while the top five were rounded out by Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM) and Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki).
In MX2, the holeshot in the qualifying race was claimed by De Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna), who initially lost the lead to Rick Elzinga (Monster Energy Yamaha) on the third lap before regaining it three laps later. Elzinga continued to drop positions, with Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM) becoming De Wolf’s main challenger in the final laps. Despite the gap not being significant, De Wolf held onto the lead to win with a 1.147s advantage over Adamo.
Liam Everts (Red Bull KTM) finished third, ahead of Mikkel Haarup (Monster Energy Triumph), who overtook Elzinga on the final lap to secure fourth place.
