Francesco Bagnaia has achieved what very few have done in the MotoGP era, by winning the world championship two consecutive years. The Ducati rider has the chance to extend this streak to three in 2024 – being the apparent strongest contender for the title.
What would it mean to achieve this third consecutive title? What would mean to be champion three years in a row? ‘Three are better than two. I’ll try to do the maximum, the ambition is to win again obviously. The performance of the bike is there, my team is fantastic, and if we work well we have a possibility. So, head down, and pushing hard to try to reconfirm’.
Asked if he feels any different from a mental standpoint at the beginning of a new season after two titles, Bagnaia denied: ‘No, honestly no, because I want to continue doing what I love to do and what I’m doing. The ambition is the same and the work in the box is the same. The work at home is even higher, so it will be always like this and I want to continue like this’.
