MotoGP is currently filled with fast and talented riders, some younger and others more experienced. Teams always look for the best available combination, and the choices are not always easy given the high quality available.
Aleix Espargaró, who competes for Aprilia, imagined his ideal team if he were the leader. The Spaniard stated, as quoted by SPEEDWEEK.com, that rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) would be indispensable:
– If I were a team manager, it would be clear to me what to do. The first thing to do would be to secure Pedro Acosta. For me, there is no doubt that he is the guy to whom the future belongs. If you think ahead, you can’t plan without Pedro Acosta. He will have a role in the next ten to twelve years. That’s for sure. Pedro would be in my team.
As for the second rider, Espargaró would seek the current World Championship leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati): ‘When it comes to who is number one in terms of speed nowadays, it’s Jorge Martín. His potential to win races, his consistency, his determination, is what makes him the strongest rider for me at the moment. So, my dream team, if I had a say, would definitely be Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martín’.
