Although he was pleasantly surprised by some aspects of Sunday’s race in Australia, Fabio Quartararo did not escape some problems during the race. The start was very good, he considers, but the problem came later.
Quartararo, ninth yesterday, spoke about the positive start in the long race, but admitted that after that he started to have problems: ‘I had many more problems and I don’t know why, especially since I gained six or seven positions at the start, which was very good, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep up the pace with the guys at the front’.
The Frenchman even had Raúl Fernández as a way to compare how Aprilia used the tire, compared to his Yamaha: ‘Especially when Raúl [Fernández] overtook me I could see that his tire was much more prepared than ours and he even used it more at the beginning’.
In fact, the tire was his greatest adversary in the race, he considered: ‘It was our biggest problem during the race’.
Quartararo has been complaining about the rear of his bike and how it depends a lot on track conditions, and it remains to be seen how the manufacturer will try to solve the problem by the end of the season, with the next one promising many new things as Pramac Racing will become a satellite team, with Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller as riders.
