Francesco Bagnaia starts the new MotoGP season defending the title for the second consecutive year. Despite the break between seasons, the last few months have not been a time of rest for the Ducati rider, who has been dedicated to training and preparing for 2024.
The Italian said in a press conference: ‘We are arriving here in a great shape. We worked perfectly in the test and we managed to do all the job we were planning. And my feeling on the new bike is quite good. For sure we just did five days of test, so we need more laps on it, but the feeling is very positive and looks that this year’s bike is quite competitive right now. So I’m happy’.
Asked if he had the best winter since he arrived to MotoGP, Bagnaia replied: ‘It was good, short, but good. Right now is very difficult to have a proper break after the season because you have many events and you have to train hard also, because finally you have more or less two weeks of break before everything starts. So you continue training and the proper break is two weeks. I enjoyed a lot every moment, I was in Mexico and it was fantastic, but as soon as I was back I started again to train. Right now is very difficult to reach this kind of level, to keep constant and the mindset has to be always on that. The Sprint race has increased a lot the work at home, so I think you feel that the break is a bit shorter’.
