For the first time since joining Ducati, Enea Bastianini will start from pole position. This Saturday, he led the qualifying session for the Portuguese GP in Portimão with a lap time of 1m37.706s, beating Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) by 0.082s.
The Italian told the official broadcast that, despite being pleased with a result he considers special, the work is not yet done with what follows in the Portuguese round:
– After a long time without a pole position, today is special. And, well, it’s the first with Ducati. I’m happy because we improved from yesterday and today I was positive to do a great qualifying and then arrived this pole position. It’s only the first step, because today we also have the Sprint race, but we are happy.
