Currently part of the race direction, Loris Capirossi remains involved in MotoGP after a successful career as a rider. With the championship just about two months away, he shared his thoughts on what might unfold in the 2024 season, also commenting on the significant addition of Marc Márquez competing for Gresini.
Speaking to Relevo.com, the Italian stated: ‘I wish Fausto [Gresini] were with us because having Marc in the team would be something wonderful, amazing. Besides, both brothers are in the team. I think they will have an excellent team next season. Márquez won’t have an official bike, but he’ll always be a protagonist. I’m convinced that he will put on a great show’.
Capirossi expressed confidence that Márquez has everything it takes to succeed at Gresini: ‘This change of scenery will be good for him to continue showing the star he is. Marc hasn’t forgotten how to win, I’m convinced of that. Márquez is Márquez. Giacomo Agostini is concerned because he told me this guy might take away his record. Jokes aside, Marc is a visceral rider, with heart, who always pushes the limit. Added to all this, we can mention his enormous quality. He perhaps resembles the geniuses of yesteryears the most. He’s not afraid of anything, but he’s an intelligent guy who knows and masters everything. He has it all’.
Regarding the season overall, the former rider expressed confidence that it will be full of excitement: ‘It will be one of the best in recent times’.
