Fabio Quartararo is one of the riders for Yamaha in the 2024 MotoGP season, and he considers the team’s many development concessions to be a significant advantage. These concessions allow Yamaha to make the necessary improvements to become as competitive as the European manufacturers once again.
The 2021 champion stated in a press conference: ‘I think it’s really important, especially to have many things that we can change on the bike. The engine I think it’s quite okay, but to be able to test more during the season will be great. I think the ideas the new engineers have are great, but they need quite a lot of time. During a race weekend is really complicated to test this kind of items – especially on the electronics side’.
Quartararo also believes that being able to directly test new material is advantageous: ‘And to be able to test by myself and not with Cal [Crutchlow] – Cal is doing a really great job, but I mean, when you test yourself what you need I think it’s better. So this is why I think concessions are great, because we have only two bikes’.
